Help System and documentation for PAL

It would be ideal to have a help button in the various (tabbed) views of the PAL GUI, where clicking the help button would bring up a context-based HTML help system (*.chm file). And/or have supporting user documentation on how to use PAL, in PDF format, etc.

In terms of help system, what would really be helpful would be in the area of customizing or configuring your own threshold files. For novice users, that's like a trial and error process to design your own threshold files for your own applications, etc. The process isn't simply intuitive to do and takes quite an amount of effort implement your own threshold file unless you are very familiar with the common threshold analysis algorithms or the XML file format/spec such that you can simply type it out or copy & paste, because going through the GUI to do that is very repetitive.

Using existing threshold files and generating a report from counter logs is pretty straight forward enough.

PAL ships with a PAL_Help.htm file, but I haven't updated it in a long while. With that said, it walks through how to edit threshold files. To create your own threshold file, make a copy of the SystemOverview.xml file, open it in a text editor or XML editor and change the NAME field at the top to be something else, set the version number to be 1.0, close and rename the file to be something else as well. Run the PAL wizard and select your threshold file, and click Edit to start editing it. Use the PAL_Help.htm file as a guide to editing it. Oh and the New button on the editor crashes it. Sorry.

Yes, I should create a button or something, so users can see the help file easier.

Thank you for the feedback!
