Print Server Performance Template

Jan 15, 2013 at 2:14 PM

How difficult would it be to have a performance template for Print Servers? Knowing that there is not a practical way to collect counters for each printer object, is there a way to collect using the _Total instance and view potential thresholds? I have been working with customers on scaling print servers for enterprise load. I have run across decent reference material that provides estimate figures on how many printers/users/shares can exist on any single server.

It would be neat to see if we can include a template that provides a baseline to an active print server.

As long as the counters exist, then it should be easy. I'm not a print server expert, so I'll have to rely on you for the info. I recently wrote an article on how to create your own threshold file in PAL. It should take no more than 20 minutes to do it. Let me know if you have questions or just point me how to do it.
