Remote Perflog creation and errors

Apr 8, 2008 at 12:32 PM
Hi All,

Executing: ReLog.exe "D:\perflogs\Copy of FMAw2xz1zd90104081346_001.blg" -f CSV -y -o D:\DOCUME~1\xz1zd9\LOCALS~1\Temp
\{301D2463-5FD0-487F-94EC-5E083E761F82}\_FilteredLogForCounterlist.csv

Input
----------------
File(s):
D:\perflogs\Copy of FMAw2xz1zd90104081346_001.blg (Binary)

Begin: 4/8/2008 13:46:22
End: 4/8/2008 13:49:22
Samples: 4

Error:
The specified record was not found in the log file.

D:\Program Files\PAL\PAL v1.3 Beta 5\PAL.vbs(4732, 5) Microsoft VBScript runtime error: File not found

when I try to execute the command manually I get the same error

D:\perflogs>ReLog.exe "D:\perflogs\FMAw2xz1zd90104081346_001.blg" -f csv -o log.csv

Input
----------------
File(s):
D:\perflogs\FMAw2xz1zd90104081346_001.blg (Binary)

Begin: 4/8/2008 13:46:22
End: 4/8/2008 13:59:22
Samples: 14

Error:
The specified record was not found in the log file.

but when I do -q to list the counters in the blg I get the complete list:

Input
----------------
File(s):
D:\perflogs\FMAw2xz1zd90104081346_001.blg (Binary)

Begin: 4/8/2008 13:46:22
End: 4/8/2008 13:59:22
Samples: 14

\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(C:)\% Idle Time
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(D:)\% Idle Time
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(_Total)\% Idle Time
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(C:)\Disk Reads/sec
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(D:)\Disk Reads/sec
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(_Total)\Disk Reads/sec
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(C:)\Avg. Disk sec/Read
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(D:)\Avg. Disk sec/Read
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(_Total)\Avg. Disk sec/Read
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(C:)\Disk Writes/sec

So I have Samples: 14 and counters in the file, but relog fails. Do you have any idea why?

I used the logman command to create the perflog on a remote machine, %%i is a hostname.

logman create counter FMA%%i -f bin -o D:\Perflogs\FMA%%i%LOG_TYPE%.bin -v mmddhhmm -cf TEMPCOUNTER.TXT -u username password -si 00:01:00 -b 08.04.2008 13:00 -e 08.04.2008 14:00 -cnf 24:00:00

TEMPCOUNTER.TXT has the following format:
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(*)\% Idle Time
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(*)\Avg. Disk Bytes/Transfer
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(*)\Avg. Disk Queue Length
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(*)\Avg. Disk sec/Read
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(*)\Avg. Disk sec/Transfer
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(*)\Avg. Disk sec/Write
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(*)\Disk Bytes/sec
\\w2xz1zd901\LogicalDisk(*)\Disk Reads/sec

The odd thing is that I can add the blg to the system monitor, see the time rage, add counters, and see the charts. I can choose save data as and I can generate a CSV. And PAL processes the CSV saved from perfmon.

Thanks for the help,
Cheers,

Yes, I agree. This looks like an error with Relog.exe itself. The command where it fails is simply converting the BLG file to a CSV file. What happens if you try to use Relog.exe by itself? If it still fails, then we may need to open a support case on Relog.exe. If the log file is small, can you send me the log file preferrably compressed using ZIP?

Hello,

I figured out that it works with the csv format, and I recreated the needed log. Actually the file size is also smaller for me. Unfortunatly I deleted the file, when I face the same problem I will send the file to you.

Thanks,
Cheers
