Unable to pull the report for OCS R2 FrontEnd Servers

Oct 11, 2010 at 1:34 PM

Hello All,

I am working as an administrator and in our Organistaion there is requirement to fetch the data from OCS front end servers, using which we will analyse the load and future requirement if any. I am new to this tool and was trying to use this tool for the first time. I am using the tool PAL v1.3.6 to fetch the report from our OCS R2 Front End Servers.

I am using the tool on Windows 2003 SP2 server, 64 Bit System. To fetch the report we are using Thrashold file Title "Microsoft OCS 2007 R2 - Enterprise" but when we run the tool we are getting this follwing message.

I have one more querstion here. We do not have powershell 2.0 in our environment which is the reason we cannot use the latest PAL 2.0.

In PAL 2.0 we cannot find the option for OCS 2007 - Enterprise option in thrashold, we only have OCS 2007 R2 - Edge option. will it do the same job for us.

If you need any further information fro my side, then kindly let me know.

Thanks in advnace!!!

It looks like there is a bug in the output parameter to Relog.exe. With that in mind, I'm not sure why this problem hasn't been noticed before. Try downloading it from here:

http://pal.codeplex.com/Project/Download/AttachmentDownload.ashx?ProjectName=PAL&WorkItemId=18916&FileAttachmentId=4098

Regarding OCS, we are working on converting the threshold files from PAL v1.x to PAL v2.0.

Thanks Much Clint for your help and reply,

I successfully replaced the existing PAL.vbs file with the one you gave me. earlier i use to get error message as soon as the scripts executes but this time i got another message "Illegal assignment: 'UseRelogToFilterCounters'" after around couple of hours (which shows that the previous error was fixed), but i think there is some other issue here with it. Please find the error message that i got below.

Thanks again for your help.

PAL is waiting for the _FilteredLogForCounterlist.csv file to be created after Relog.exe is ran. For some reason, it can't find the file. I don't know why it would fail here because Relog.exe appears to run correctly. I recommend using a file tracing utilility like Process Monitor to see if the file actually gets created and if something else deleted it before PAL can use it.

Thanks a Ton Clint for your effort,

I am not sure why but i tried to run the tool on my local PC and it worked and it also worked on my Officer Laptop without any issues.  i was able to pull up the report for OCS Enterprise with help of the tool. May there is something wrong on at my server configuration, cause if there would have been any problem with the tool then it would not have worked on my local machine.  I will still be working to find out the reason for the same. If you require any information from my side, i will try my best to find that for you.

Thanks again Clint you have been great!!!

Have a nice day!!!

Gaurav
