What is this Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 Stand-Alone Profiler that I stumbled onto today? It looks a little PAL-ish...

Well... let's just say that the PAL tool has had some influence. :-)

I met with the Visual Studio team a few years ago. They took on a lot of the PAL concepts. With that said, the Visual Studio Profiler goes far deeper than performance counters which PAL is limited to. I use the Visual Studio Profiler often when I come across high usermode CPU problems.
